In recent weeks, we’ve seen different ways the anti-gun crowd has tried to take away the rights of Americans. Their most recent tactic is to downplay taking legal guns off the streets by claiming that they’re “not taking guns from people.”

Ehh. In a way, they’re still kind of doing exactly that. It’s interesting that these people never have a plan to take illegal guns off the streets. Isn’t it ironic? Don’t ya think?

According to the Crawfordsville, Ind.-based Journal Review:

Residents can turn in semi-automatic rifles, bump stocks or large-capacity clips in an upcoming program sponsored by a local church.

Wabash Avenue Presbyterian invites owners to take the weapons and accessories to the Crawfordsville Police Department from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28. All items turned in will be melted down at Nucor Steel.

Owners will receive a $100 gift card from Kroger or County Market for guns and a $25 gift card for accessories.

Congregation member and retired educator David Hadley talked to the Journal Review about how they’re unable to “change laws,” so he figured they’d do the next best thing — persuade people to turn in their guns for less than the value of the weapons.

“We’re not taking guns from people, we’re giving people an opportunity to take them out of circulation,” Hadley said.

If you’re a law-abiding citizen who has never done anything warrant not continuing their gun ownership, why would you fall for something as stupid as this? It’s all part of a narrative to circumvent the Second Amendment without actually getting rid of it.

“We knew we were not in a position in Crawfordsville, Indiana — west central Indiana — to change laws or do anything immediately, and yet we wanted to do something to make children in our community safer,” Hadley told the Journal Review.

Hadley’s point makes no sense at all, considering the types of crimes that residents in Crawfordsville typically face. By the way, murder isn’t one of those crimes.

According to FBI statistics, the town of Crawfordsville — with a population of around 16,000 —didn’t have one murder in the entireties of 2015 and 2016. As a matter of fact, the majority of crime in Crawfordsville are “property crime” and “larceny-theft.”

Wouldn’t getting rid of guns only make those to categories of crime increase? When people are left defenseless, criminals take notice. When criminals take notice, that’s when you begin having murders in your town.

If only people could open their eyes to their own stupidity.
