‘I.M. Healthy’ Recalled By CDC - For Making People Sick

Certain products made under the I.M. Healthy brand may not be as healthy as you think.

The Centers for Disease Control has ordered a recall of the brand’s “SoyNut Butter” and “Healthy Granola” products following a “Multistate Outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O157:H7 Infections.”

The CDC advises consumers:

  • Consumers should not eat any variety or size of I.M. Healthy brand SoyNut Butter or I.M. Healthy brand granola coated with SoyNut Butter, regardless of the date of purchase or the date listed on the container.
    • Even if some of the SoyNut Butter or granola was eaten or served and no one got sick, throw the rest of the product away. Put it in a sealed bag in the trash so that children, pets, or other animals can't eat it.
    • Check your pantry for SoyNut Butter products. These products have a shelf life of 2 years.
  • Contact your healthcare provider if you think you or your child may have gotten sick from eating I.M. Healthy brand SoyNut Butter or I.M. Healthy brand granola coated with SoyNut Butter.

Currently there have been 16 cases involving I.M. Healthy across 9 states. 8 people have been hospitalized with severe abdominal pain, diarrhea and in some cases kidney failure.
