An illegal immigrant now faces his third deportation after being arrested and charged with sexual assault of an underage girl.

Leonel Vasquez, 34, was arrested and has since pleaded guilty to sexually abusing an underage girl at a hotel in McCracken County, Ky., in June, something that shouldn’t have even happened in the first place.

He was deported at least twice back to Mexico before committing the crime, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. Vasquez somehow managed to return to the States.

ICE told WPSD Local 6 and local authorities investigating the case that Vasquez was “voluntarily returned” to Mexico twice in 2000, returned to the U.S. where he was convicted of a DUI in 2004, then deported twice in 2014.

He may have faced other charges as well.

Eventually Vasquez made his way to Kentucky, where he was working and staying at the hotel where the assault took place.

Now he’s in jail facing five years in prison that he may not even serve in full because once Vasquez is sentenced, the federal government could deport him back to Mexico at any time.

"We have no say over when he is actually deported," said McCracken County Sheriff's Detective Sarah Martin.

His sentencing will be on Dec. 4 after he plead guilty and accepted a plea deal to serve a maximum five years.
