An illegal alien who previously fled the United States after being accused of sexually assaulting a child has been arrested in Polk County Florida, this time for allegedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in his family.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Wilibaldo Salinas Garcia was arrested for reportedly crawling into bed with the little girl and sexually abusing her,
The Tampa Bay Times reports:
The investigation began Aug. 24, when the girl told her mother Garcia went into her room while she was sleeping. The Sheriff’s Office said Garcia "digitally penetrated her and forced her to touch him." The girl attempted to roll away, but he pulled her back over. Eventually, she told him she had to use the bathroom and hid until he left her room.
Police claim Garcia admitted to the crime in a recorded phone call and a series of text messages he'd exchanged with the little girl’s mother, who said she confronted him after her daughter complained that he’d touched her. The woman told police that Garcia had tried to scare the little girl into keeping quiet by telling her that her mother would hit her if she spoke up.
She also told police her daughter claimed Garcia had also touched her the same way in an incident last year.
On top of being in the country illegally, Garcia’s got a pretty lng rap sheet of crimes in the United States, including misdemeanor charges for resisting arrest, loitering and marijuana possession, as well as a 2013 charge when he was accused of sexually battering another little girl in his family. He reportedly fled the U.S. before he could be tried for the crime.
Garcia has been placed under an immigration detainer and charged with sexual battery on a child under 12. The Tampa Bay Times notes this charge is a capital felony in Florida and carries a possible sentence of life in prison or death.
