In case you missed it, President Donald Trump declared that November 1 would be a “National Day of Remembrance” for Americans who were killed by illegal immigrants. People can call it “racist” or “xenophobic” if they like, but it doesn’t change the fact that many Americans might still be alive today had they not lost their lives because of illegal immigrants.

According to Trump’s statement on the “National Day of Remembrance for Americans Killed by Illegal Aliens”:

On this National Day of Remembrance, we pause to honor the memory of every American life so egregiously taken from us by criminal illegal aliens. As sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, and as American citizens, these precious lives are an irreplaceable piece of our national community. We solemnly stand with their families — our Angel Families — who have endured what no American family should ever have to suffer. Today, we recommit to ensuring that those responsible for these tragedies face justice, while taking every action to prevent these horrific acts from occurring in our Nation.

In his statement, the president also spoke of the “politicians and leaders,” some of the present and some of the past, for turning a blind eye to Americans killed by people illegally in the U.S.

“For years, our politicians and leaders met the pain and plight of Angel Families with silence and indifference. Under my watch, the voices of our Angel Families no longer fall on deaf ears,” Trump said in his “Proclamation.” “Americans who are killed by illegal aliens are no longer forgotten, and we are ensuring that they will not have died in vain.”

Fox News spoke with family members of those who have been killed by illegal immigrants.

“Securing our borders, not only protects Americans, but protects the vulnerable victims of human smuggling and the cartel,” Mary Ann Mendoza, parent of a son who killed by a drunk driver illegally in the county, said. “It is a very lucrative business that is enriching these groups while never giving one thought to the cost of human lives and if they make it here, the burden on American taxpayers that are increasing every year.”

“Unfortunately, there are too many people – because how most of the media covers illegal alien crime – that think none of it goes on,” Don Rosenberg, parent of a son who killed by an illegal immigrant without a driver’s license, told Fox News. “And when you talk about, you know, people who have been killed by illegal aliens they’ll say, ‘well, it’s terrible, but it’s only a few.’”

No matter what any self-righteous activist might tell you, all lives matter. Just because the media ignores them, that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
