In ICE Custody: Brazilian Immigrant Who Assaulted Man in MAGA Hat in Country Illegally

If you’re an illegal immigrant, why would you put yourself in any situation where you could be subject to arrest? Maybe it’s the hubris afforded to illegal immigrants by certain politicians who place their needs ahead of those who are legally in the U.S.

A Brazilian immigrant who was arrested almost two weeks ago for assaulting a man at a Mexican restaurant for wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for being in the country illegally.

“Deportation officers with ICE’s Fugitive Operations Team arrested Rosiane Santos, an unlawfully present citizen of Brazil, today near Falmouth, Massachusetts,” ICE spokesman John Mohan said, according to CBS Boston. “Santos is currently facing local charges for assault and other offenses. She is presently in ICE custody and has been entered into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts.”

Bryton Turner, 23, was attempting to eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant when the 41-year-old Santos began yelling at him or wearing a MAGA hat before smacking Turner in the back of the head and pulling the hat down over Turner’s face.

Santos reportedly struck Turner again, even after police arrived on the scene.

“I couldn’t imagine somebody just coming up and hitting them when there’s cops right here,” bartender Geo Macarao said.

After the incident, Turner spoke to CBS Boston.

“It’s just a hat at the end of the day,” Turner said. “I don’t really understand why people can’t just express themselves anymore, everybody has to get mad.”

Absolutely! We should be able to agree to disagree without some ignorant moron chiming in and turning the whole thing into an over-exaggerated situation.

Santos made an excuse for her behavior and actually claimed that she was the victim, despite video evidence to the contrary.

“I had a little bit to drink," Santos told Boston 25 News. "Maybe that’s the reason that I couldn’t walk away but being discriminated for so many times in my life, I just had to stand up for myself. He’s not a victim. I am the victim. I have been bullied, OK?”

It appears as if Santos may have to play the victim back in Brazil.
