Twitter CEO Elon Musk responded to the announcement that conservative commentator and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson will soon begin airing a new program on Musk's social media platform, saying he hopes even more content creators will start taking advantage of site's new long-form streaming capabilities.

And when it comes to left-wing accusations that Musk and Carlson struck some sort of exclusive and mutual beneficial deal to put Carlson's new show on the site, the SpaceX and Tesla tycoon had something to say about that, as well.

"On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said. And, of course, anything misleading will get [Community Notes]," Musk wrote in response to Carlson's video announcement, referring to a feature on Twitter that allows other users to tag misleading or false statements on Twitter with a "community note" that acts as a public fact-check.

"I also want to be clear that we have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever. Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators," Musk continued. "Rewards means subscriptions and advertising revenue share (coming soon), which is a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising views associated with the content."

"I hope that many others, particularly from the left, also choose to be content creators on this platform," he concluded.

Leftists have blasted the new Twitter CEO for opening the platform back up to free speech, which includes giving a voice to conservative personalities and commentators the left would rather be silenced. Meanwhile, conservatives rejoiced that the site had finally become the kind of open space where someone like Carlson could speak his mind.
