Hypocritical, Much? CNN Brings On Bill De Blasio to Blast Conservative Media

The liberal media often claims that criticism towards the press is un-American, but they appear to have a different standard when it comes to conservative news outlets.

CNN host Brian Stelter brought Bill de Blasio on his show Sunday, where the New York City mayor echoed his media criticism towards Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. from his interview in The Guardian last week.

“If you could remove News Corp. from the last 25 years of American history, we would be in an entirely different place,” de Blasio told the Guardian. "There would be less overt hate, there would be less appeal to racial division," he continued.

Stelter, whose show is ironically titled, “Reliable Sources,” gave de Blasio a platform to continue spewing his hatred towards Murdoch’s company, which owns Fox News and other conservative leaning media outlets.

De Blasio claimed Murdoch has an “apocalyptic vision” that portrays “people of color as the villains.”

“There is no Donald Trump without News Corp.,” he asserted.

"I believe in a free, strong media with diverse views. I'll defend it with all I've got," he continued. "But we have to be able to call out when a particular company has a corporate agenda, has a political agenda, and has very effectively changed the American discourse."

Sound familiar? Perhaps a description of the outlet he was appearing on? Apparently not. De Blasio had only positive words for CNN.

“CNN, on a regular basis, provides both sides of the story,” he claimed.

Is it not the least bit ironic that CNN, which constantly blasts President Donald Trump for criticizing the media, gave a platform to De Blasio, who essentially has made the same arguments as the president but towards the opposite end of the media spectrum?

As Seth Mendel of the News Corp owned New York Post noted in a heated Twitter exchange with Stelter — there was none, if any, push back to de Blasio’s comments on CNN.

“You gave him an unchallenged platform. All because you want to keep the heat on Fox—and the NY Post be damned. I hope it was worth it,” Mendel tweeted at Stelter.

So does CNN truly care about careless media rhetoric from politicians, or are they picking and choosing what criticism is legitimate based upon their own political bias? You be the judge.
