Hundreds of gun rights advocates gathered at the Pennsylvania Capitol Monday, for the 14th annual Second Amendment rally.

WFMZ- TV reports, Gun owners cheered when the event's organizer, Republican state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, announced he'll be asking fellow lawmakers to support his proposal to impeach the Pittsburgh mayor over recently enacted gun regulations.

"The last time I introduced [an] article of impeachment resolution was for [former Attorney General] Kathleen Kane. She's now serving time on nine counts of crime that she committed," Metcalfe said. "Let's get rid of this rogue mayor and stop anybody else from joining him."

Democratic Mayor Bill Peduto recently signed legislation restricting assault weapons and allowing seizure of guns from people government officials determine to be a danger to themselves or others.

A House Republican spokesman said, however, the caucus isn't interested in perusing impeachment for Peduto.

According to the Morning Call, the event was bi-partisan:

Dozens of House Republican legislators, joined by a smaller number of Democrats and state senators, heard speakers warn of efforts to restrict gun ownership.

'A gun can be an equalizer,' said Kelly Ann Pidgeon, head of the group Armed and Feminine. 'I have friends who have been raped at gunpoint in gun-free zones.'
