House Speaker Pelosi Releases Letter Effectively Cancelling SOTU Address

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has written a letter to President Donald Trump in response to the letter that the president made public earlier on Wednesday.

In the letter, Pelosi notes that she had originally agreed to the mutually agreed upon date for Trump to deliver this year’s State of the Union address at the House of Representatives, January 29th.

However, after Trump’s letter was made public, Pelosi responded with a letter to “inform” the president that “the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened.”

NBC News White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell tweeted out a picture of the letter, penned by Pelosi:

“Again, I look forward to welcoming you to the House on a mutually agreeable date for this address when government has been opened,” Pelosi concluded.

"She [Pelosi] doesn't want to hear the truth," Trump said in response to Pelosi's letter from the Cabinet Room, according to CNN. "She doesn't want the American public to hear what's going on."

Basically, Pelosi is saying that they’re not interested in working with Trump unless the government is reopened. It looks as if working across the aisle has gone completely out the window.
