In an effort to show the American people that they mean business regarding their new tax proposals, Republicans in the House of Representatives will reportedly unveil a “tax calculator” by next week.

The Washington Examiner reported that the new calculator serves to allow Americans to enter in their 2017 tax form information and determine what their new payments will be under the Republican tax reform plan.

Lawmakers such as Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) believe that the new calculator will help sell the House GOP tax plan to the American people, stating:

We are convinced middle-income people whether from New York or Alabama, are going to save money.

It will be helpful when this new tax calculator shows up next week. When people actually run the numbers… the bottom line is they are going to see they are going to pay less taxes under this plan than they were paying.

As expected, many Democratic lawmakers have forcefully pushed back against the GOP tax plan in an effort to undermine the proposal in the minds of the American public.

However, some Democrats have been called out by major media organizations for promoting falsehoods about the details of the plan. Such false statements include those from Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), who tweeted, "On average, middle class families earning less than $86,000 would see a tax increase under the Republican ‘tax reform’ plan."
