Home of the Brave: Islanders Fans Help Singer with Moving National Anthem Rendition

Quick, somebody get Mara Gay to her fainting couch -- those Long Island rednecks are at it again. This time, they proudly sang The Star Spangled Banner at an NHL game (their Old Glory-festooned pick-ups were no doubt parked outside.)

Last Sunday, before same four of the Stanley Cup second round matchup between the NY Islanders and the Boston Bruins at Nassau Coliseum, singer Nicole Raviv ran into some sound system trouble during the national anthem. But the 12,000 Islanders fans had her back and sang it with her.

Thursday night, she began the song and then let them have at it.

That's quite a moment, as Raviv herself tweeted: "I’m not crying you’re crying" and "My heart is full. The coliseum will forever have the best backup singers in the #NHL."

As for Mara Gay, she might feel more at home at a Dallas Mavericks game.
