Hillary Promises to Put Coal Miners 'Out of Business'

At a Democratic Townhall on Sunday, Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton took a page from President Obama’s playbook and promised that, if elected, her administration would “put a lot of coal companies and coal miners out of business."

The declaration came as Hillary explained why “poor” white Republican voters should support her. But given that there are roughly 93,000 coal miners in the country, this promise may have not been the best strategy when it comes to reaching that particular voter demographic. 

Following the statement, Clinton went on to praise coal miners while reiterating that as president, her focus will be on increasing the use of renewable forms of energy in the United States.
