Hillary on Iraq: Look, 'I Made a Mistake'

After over a month of refusing to answer questions from the press, Hillary Clinton broke her silence.

At a campaign event in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Tuesday, the 2016 presidential candidate was asked whether the world was "better off without Saddam Hussein in power."

It came as no surprise to the former Secretary of State that a member of the press would ask her a hypothetical question on Iraq, since reporters have been asking Republican candidates throughout the past couple weeks whether they believe the decision to invade Iraq was a mistake.

"Look, I know that there've been a lot of questions about Iraq posed to candidates over the last weeks," she said.

"I've made it very clear that I made a mistake, plain and simple," Mrs. Clinton conceded.

"And I have written about it in my book. I've talked about it in the past. And what we now see is a very different and very dangerous situation."

She continued,

"The United States is doing what it can. But ultimately this has to be a struggle that the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people are determined to win for themselves. And we can provide support, but they're gonna have to do it."
