Democrat lawmakers were nowhere to be seen as the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability held a field hearing in Arizona on Tuesday.
The border town of Sierra Vista was the location of the event that discussed the ongoing humanitarian and national security issues caused by illegal immigration.
Area rancher John Ladd, whose family has been ranching near the border since 1896, was among those that testified.
“They (illegal aliens) have started cutting fences and breaking waterlines again. So I’ve been.. a lot of extra work fixing fence - keeping cows of the highway. Fixing pipelines because I’m wasting a lot of water.” Ladd said.
“You can get anybody and anything across that border whenever you want to do it,” Ladd testified.
In an interview with Fox News Ladd said about 15 people an hour cross the border onto his ranch.
“It gets worse every day with this guy (Biden),” Ladd says.
When asked if he had the opportunity to tell Joe Biden one thing about the border situation, he didn’t hesitate in giving an answer.
“I’d tell him he’s an idiot. That he’s ruining America.”
Officials report the Tucson sector of the border experienced over 1,300 illegal crossings per day in July, encountering nearly 40,000 migrants.
Local authorities testified that human smuggling and drugs are a major concern.
