Almost two years after the war in Afghanistan’s conclusion, the families of those who died during the withdrawal testified before Congress this week.

Among the family members present was Cheryl Rex, mother of the late 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola. Since her testimony aired live on Monday, the video went viral on Twitter. Rex had revealed the cruelty of the current administration in a new and tragic light.

“When Joe Biden, our elected president, entered the room – when he approached me – his words to me were, ‘My wife Jill and I know how you feel. We lost our son as well and brought him home in a flag-draped coffin,’” Rex said, tears streaming down her face as she described her son’s transfer ceremony. “My heart started beating faster, and I started shaking, knowing that their son died from cancer, and they were able to be by his side.”

She had been stunned that Biden so blatantly lied to her face.

“Also wondering how someone could honestly be so heartless to say he knew how I felt–a little over 24 hours from learning of my son’s death,” Rex said.

Not only did Biden look so unaware of what he had done, but he never reached out or took ownership of Merola’s death.

“After this encounter, I have never had any personal correspondence, nor has my son been honored or his name spoken by this commander-in-chief or his administration on what I feel is because of their failures and poor planning to exit our troops from Afghanistan,” Rex continued.

Multiple Twitter, or X, users chimed in with their support of Rex and her ordeal with the Biden administration.

“God bless this woman & her family,” Twitter user Moneka Hood Prock said, sharing her sympathy for Rex and her loved ones. “This is absolutely heartbreaking.”

“His son died of cancer, not because of gross malfeasance, dereliction of duty, and gross failures of command and planning,” user Charles Lee wrote. “What an insult to the fallen and their families.”

“At this point, dementia is the best possible excuse for Biden’s behavior,” journalist Brad Polumbo claimed. “Because if he is mentally competent yet so casually lies in situations like this…that’s astoundingly vile.”
