Greenland Glacier Grows, Despite Al Gore's Claims of Melting Glaciers

If one were to have believed Al Gore over the past twenty years, one would think that ol’ Mother earth were like the Wicked Witch of the West in “The Wizard of Oz,” that the planet is screaming, “I’m melting! Mellllting!” and bemoaning its destruction because of man’s uncaring use of energy-packed fossil fuels.

But another scientific study has appeared that throws cold water on Gore’s scaremongering and makes Gore look much more like the charlatan Wizard than the Scarecrow who really had a brain.

As James Murphy writes for The New American, the journal Nature Geoscience just released another study showing that the “glacial melting” narrative is unsupportable. The Jakobshavn Glacier in Greenland is growing not melting.

Using airborne altimetry and satellite imagery data, the study concludes that since 2016, the glacier has been advancing. The data used was from NASA’s Oceans Melting Greenland (OMG) mission. The study was conducted by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) with contributions from Remote Sensing Solutions in Barnstable, Massachusetts, and the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands.

But this runs counter to the fatiguing and seemingly endless mythology Gore constructed as part of his attempt to lever more control over private business and consumer choice, and to extract more tax money from human activity.

When the ever-lovable “journalist” Katie Couric asked him in 2006 whether “anthropogenic climate change” would put Manhattan under water, he replied:

Yes, in fact the World Trade Center Memorial site would be underwater.

And in 2010, long after he’d reached that great scientific conclusion, he backed up his earlier claims with:

Almost all of the ice-covered regions of the Earth are melting — and seas are rising.

Not only were both parts of that statement unsupportable at the time, they still are unsupportable.

Robert Felix covered the falsity of Gore’s excessive blathering at the time, writing for CanadaFreePress:

If you click on the words ‘are melting’ in Gore’s article, you’re taken to a paper by Michael Zemp at the University of Zurich. Mr. Zemp begins his paper by warning that’“glaciers around the globe continue to melt at high rates’… However, if you bother to actually read the paper, you learn that Zemp’s conclusion is based on measurements of ‘more than 80 glaciers.’

And, Felix notes:

Considering that the Himalayas boast more than 15,000 glaciers, a study of ‘more than 80 glaciers’ hardly seems sufficient to warrant such a catastrophic pronouncement… Especially when you learn that of those 80 glaciers, several are growing… Growing. Not melting.

Now, to be magnanimous to Gore, glaciers expand and contract as much as self-conscious movie stars on fad diets. But these are natural cycles, natural cycles that should not be used to give false impressions in the service of passing political mandates over other peoples’ lives.

As Murphy writes about this new glacial expansion:

The study traces the glacier’s growth spurt to a naturally occurring cycle of cooler water in the North Atlantic more than 600 miles south of the glacier. Researchers posit that the cold water was set in motion due to an effect known as the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), which causes the Northern Atlantic to switch slowly between warm and cold every five to 20 years.

Likewise, the factor with the closest correlation to global temperature changes on Earth is not man, as Gore claims. It’s the Sun, and this has been known for decades, at least as long as Fred Singer and Dennis Avery’s excellent book, “Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years” has been available for people like Gore to assiduously avoid – and for him to avoid mentioning to the public.

It’s not likely Gore will mention this new information, either.

But it’s worth noting, as are all of Gore’s sundry Chicken Little claims about anthropogenic climate change that were provably disconnected from reality at the time, and are being proven even more unreal today.

In this world of politicized science to promote “Climate Change”, of sketchy data, and political charlatans spouting nonsense, pop media can’t be expected to call Gore on his errors. But we can, and we can show others that his claims melt quite rapidly when exposed to the light of truth.
