After the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941, the United States was in a panic to protect its remaining aircraft. At a Lockheed plant in Burbank, the Army began setting up barricades to help protect the plant.
The Army also called Col. John F. Ohmer because they wanted him to disguise the plant to look like a suburb.
The photos of the transformation are absolutely stunning and you would never guess that this was actually a production plant that had 53,000 workers.
