Gowdy Bill to Make Sure Future Presidents Cannot Enforce Immigration Like Obama

Brad Fox | March 18, 2015

“Our immigration system is broken, our laws are not being enforced and most Americans are wary of the so called reforms coming out of Washington. For nearly 30 years Americans have been promised a secure border and an immigration system that works for all Americans. Those promises have not been kept,” says Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC).

Right now the POTUS is able to shut down some of the enforcement of immigration laws because he does not like those laws.

Trey Gowdy points out why that isn’t what is supposed to happen in a functioning democracy.

The House Judiciary Committee is considering a bill to strengthen the enforcement of our immigration laws by allowing state and local governments to enforce federal immigration law.

This bill would limit the ability of future presidents to, “systematically shut down portions of the law to suit their political purposes.”
