The California Governor is starting to feel the heat.
Gavin Newsom, one of the most hated men in his state, told ABC’s The View that he feels anxious about the petitions to recall him as governor, according to the Washington Times.
“Am I worried about it? Of course, I’m worried about it,” Newsom told Joy Behar during the interview. “The nature of these things, the up-or-down question, the zero-sum nature of the question is challenging, it’s vexing.”
So far, the current petitions to oust him have garnered 1.8 million valid signatures, though only 1.5 million were needed for the issue to be put on a ballot.

Believe it or not, this actually isn’t the first time Californians have tried to recall Newsom. There’s been a staggering six attempts to boot him out of the governor’s seat since he was first elected in 2018.
Despite his worries, Newsom stated that he’s not going down without a fight. “We’re taking it seriously,” Newsom said. “I have to do my job every single day, but I’m going to fight this thing because I’m going to fight for California values and the things I hold dear and I think the vast majority of Californians regardless of their political stripes hold dear.”
Newsom may claim the support of a “vast majority of Californians regardless of their political stripes,” but he failed to give a direct answer when Behar asked if it was really true that a substantial amount of the signatures demanding his recall belonged to “Democrats, independents and unaffiliated voters.”
The petitions have to be turned in to the California Secretary of State on Wednesday. No doubt Newsom will be gnawing on his fingernails when that happens.
