Four amazing girls in in North Dallas, Texas, not too far from the scene of the deadliest day for cops since 9/11, raised $10,000 with the help of a simple lemonade stand. All proceeds went to support the families of the five Dallas Police officers killed last Thursday when a gunman opened fired on cops during a peaceful protest.

“We felt really bad for all the victims’ families,” 12-year-old Lauren Roach told NBC-Dallas Fort Worth. “At first we thought we would get about $100, but after we got to about $5,000, we realized we could really get this really high.”

“We just really feel that every little penny counted,” added 11-year-old Landry Nelon.

The Dallas girls sold 50 cent cups of lemonade, various baked goods, and advertised that all proceeds would go to the Dallas Police Department. However, it turned out that most people weren’t interested in getting anything in return for their donations.

“People were just driving by,” Lauren’s mother, Tracey Roach, told NBC-Dallas Fort Worth. “They didn’t want lemonade. They didn’t want anything, just giving them 20’s, 50’s, you name it, just giving money. And everybody was saying, ‘Back the blue, back the blue, we support Dallas, we support families, help Dallas become a better place.’”

On Monday, just after two days of running the lemonade stand, the children presented a $10,000 check to the Dallas Police Association.

“It’s unbelievable moving,” said Fred Frazier of the Dallas Police Federation about the influx of donations coming into the department. “You break down at night when you start thinking about everything. We’ll heal, it’s just going to take some time.”

There has been a flood of donation coming into to the Dallas Police Department after shooter, Micah Johnson, wounded nine people, seven of whom were officers, and killing five more. Southwest Airlines donated a check for $75,000 to the DPD and Houston police donated $20,000 to support their fellow cops.
