Even though U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg apologized for wading into politics during the 2016 presidential election, she is now claiming that sexism is the cause of Hillary Clinton’s loss.
While speaking with Charlie Rose Tuesday night, Ginsburg said “We came pretty close” to getting a woman as president in 2016. Asked explicitly if sexism played a role in Clinton’s loss, she said, “Do I think so? I have no doubt that it did,” to applause.
Ginsburg explained, “There are so many things that might have been decisive, but that was a major, major factor.”
Ginsburg also reportedly said that, under Trump, “our most basic values” are under threat.
Ginsurg allegedly said, “I'm worried, but I'm encouraged by the number of people, especially young people, who are expressing themselves in opposition, reminding us of our most basic values: our freedom. And if we surrender that than we really are indistinguishable. It's a real concern of mine."
While Ginsburg is busy giving her views on the election, Justice Neil Gorsuch was criticized in the Washington Post on Wednesday, with a headline reading, “Gorsuch’s speeches raise questions of independence, critics say.”
Clinton has also repeatedly blamed “sexism” for her loss to President Trump.
