There’s another George Bush entering the national political spotlight. This time it’s the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of former President George W. Bush, George P. Bush.

As the Dallas Morning News reported on Tuesday, Bush - who is the Land Commissioner for the state of Texas - told the outlet of his intention to vote for President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

“President Trump is the only thing standing between America and socialism,” Bush said.

The 44-year-old Republican also noted how the economy is “already returning” despite the impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

“Even in a global pandemic where we have had to take unprecedented measures to protect public health, the economy is already returning,” said Bush. “It’s clear, America and Texas will continue to be stronger than ever.”

Bush’s announcement comes just days after the New York Times allegedly falsely reported that George W. wasn’t going to support Trump in this year’s election. A spokesman for the former president told the Texas Tribune that the NYT’s report “is completely made up.”
