Attorney General Merrick Garland blasted critics of the FBI and the agents who executed a surprise search warrant at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home earlier this week, saying the law enforcement agency, whose credibility is in shambles following multiple scandals in recent years, is being “unfairly attacked.”

“Let me address recent unfounded attacks on the professionalism of the FBI or the Justice Department agents and prosecutors: I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked,” Garland said Thursday during some very brief comments on the historically unprecedented raid. “The men and women of the FBI and the Justice Department are dedicated, patriotic public servants."
