Yes, this really happened.

While mowing her lawn in Queensland, Australia, Min Tims accidentally ran over a green tree frog, wounding it in the head but not killing it.

Realizing her ghastly action, Tims called her niece Felicia Morgan who stated, “She had rung me up devastated because… the frog… got clipped. She was devastated and asked if I could say prayers for him.”

Nor was Felicia exempt from emotional trauma, explaining, “She sent me a photo of him and then I was devastated.”

The two women put their heads together, and realized that they needed help.  As Felicia stated, “We had never nursed a frog before.”

The answer to their prayers was Frog Safe, a frog hospital in Cairns, Australia, nearly 500 miles away. Undaunted by the distance, the two women got in contact with Frog Safe president Deborah Pergolotti to arrange transportation details.

“The frog needed to be packed up a particular way, had to get to the airport, we had to find out if the airport would be willing to carry the frog for us, we do not have that kind of money coming in the door to start paying for air cargo rates,” Pergolotti stated.

Luckily the group found an accommodating airline and the frog was able to make the trip to get the necessary treatment.

The frog is now safe, and has returned to Mount Isa where Tims has put it on a special diet.
