NBC news anchor Brian Williams lied when he said he was shot down in a helicopter in Iraq by an RPG, Williams admitted Wednesday, saying: "the fog of memory over 12 years — made me conflate the two [flights] and I apologize."
New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor was having none of it, and he took to Twitter to call Williams out:
"Fog of memory" my ass, @BWilliams. Here's a photo of some Americans who actually were shot down in a helicopter. pic.twitter.com/4JTDnVVInO

Suggestion for @NBCNightlyNews: when you fire @BWilliams, here's someone w/ more credibility to replace him. @NBCNews pic.twitter.com/x0Y0cnzHUZ

Nick Gillespie, editor in chief of Reason, pointed out the similarities between Williams' admission and Hillary Clinton's:
That time Hillary Clinton misremembered being under sniper fire http://t.co/DPO8FlHzIf @notjessewalker

This theme is popular in the Twitterverse:
Brian Williams' helicopter apparently attacked by the same sniper who went after Hillary's helicopter in Bosnia http://t.co/mPGxcgrc5p

Fox News analyst Monica Crowley:
Shameless lying liars who've lied about their "experiences" in war zones: @JohnKerry, @HillaryClinton, @SenBlumenthal, Brian Williams...

National Review's Jonah Goldberg snarked:
Why didn't Brian Williams confirm Hillary Clinton's story about her plane under fire in Kosovo?

And Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center recommended a course of action:
Brian Williams has to go. NBC's credibility is completely shot.
