The state of Florida has certainly received its fair share of grief over the years for being, well, Florida (Yours truly used to live there, so I’m allowed to talk a little smack.). But in recent times Florida and Floridians have shown that their state isn’t just a retirement village or vacation destination. One restaurant is proving that sentiment with a little humor and common sense.

BeckyJack’s Food Shack restaurant in Hernando County, Fla. wanted prospective patrons to know what their mask policy was, so they posted a picture to their Facebook page on Valentine’s Day with a “friendly reminder that we DO NOT require Face Masks.”

But the caption is not what’s grabbing the bulk of the attention for owner Jesse Fox.

Just take a look at the picture. You’ll see:

“We did a post just trying to be proactive letting everybody know what the mask requirement is or isn’t at Beckyjack’s because some people were coming in they were surprised that we weren’t wearing masks,” Fox said, according to WFLA.

To be honest, the way Fox is going about his mask policy is the absolute correct way to go. There’s a little thing called “free will.” If you want to wear a mask, wear a mask. If you don’t want to wear one, don’t.

The only time I wear one anymore is when I go to a place where I simply don’t want to hear any grief from anyone, so I can just get what I need and get the heck out of there.

If you’re someone who wants to wear one, I have nothing against you. That’s your right to do so. But to force people to wear them just to give yourself peace of mind is a little ludicrous.
