Michigan-born Anthony Gignac was sentenced to more than 18 years in prison last Friday for posing as a Saudi prince and reportedly defrauding investors of more than $8 million, according to The Hill.

And this wasn’t Gignac's first attempt to try the royal life. He'd already been arrested 11 times prior to his latest arrest in schemes that were similar to the one he is now going to prison for.

U.S. attorney Fajardo Orshan said in a statement released from the Attorney’s Office of the Southern Distric of Florida back in March, explaining how Gignac posed as a Saudi prince to con investors into giving him gobs of money:

Over the course of the last three decades, Anthony Gignac has portrayed himself as a Saudi Prince in order to manipulate, victimize, and scam countless investors from around the world.  As the leader of a sophisticated, multi-person, international fraud scheme, Gignac used his fake persona – Prince Khalid Bin Al-Saud – to sell false hope.

His scheme was complex, forging documents to verify his faux-prince status, setting up a fake investment company, and even flying from London to New York using a passport that wasn’t his. He even has the guts to post his lavish lifestyle all over Instagram.

But it turns out, "Prince Khalid" was nothing more than a scheming Florida man. Safe to say his next post, if there ever is one, will look much different than the lifestyle princedubai_07 was used to.
