The odds are against him, but Republican Congressman Greg Steube is attempting to amend federal law to prevent males from corrupting the integrity of women’s sports. The House Committee on Education and the Workforce on Wednesday held a hearing on the Florida lawmaker’s bill that would amend Title IX to stop the transgender nonsense across the nation.

Given the current political realities in Washington, D.C., this bill isn’t going to make it through the U.S. Senate. It isn’t going to get President Joe Biden’s signature. It isn’t a lock to pass in the House of Representatives. Still, though, Rep. Steube is doing the right thing and building the drumbeat for justice. William Wilberforce faced longshot odds when he repeatedly introduced bills in Great Britain’s Parliament to end the slave trade. Eventually he succeeded.

Rep. Steube, who said transgender athletes have “no place in women’s sports,” introduced the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” (H. R. 734). He’s attempting to “save women’s sports” and prevent them from “robbing” natural-born women of their opportunities in sports. His bill would amend Title IX to recognize sex as that which is “based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

Additionally, Rep. Steube explained:

Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports is a complete affront to the hardworking women and girls who have spent their lives training to achieve their dreams. It’s simple: biological males have no place in women’s sports. … Floridians and Americans across the country are rightly outraged at what has become of women’s sports. We’ve seen time and time again how the far left only favors fairness when it aligns with their woke agenda ...

More than 30 states have either passed or introduced bills to prevent males from competing on women’s teams, though some court injunctions have placed laws on hold pending litigation.

Of course, a Democrat had to offer token opposition to the fairness bill, on behalf of the LGBTQABCD mob. Cong. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), who chairs the Congressional Equality Caucus, ripped Steube’s bill. “This is not about girls’ and women’s sports; it’s about attacking trans kids,” he said. Oh, really? Does the trans advocate think any women competing against the man in the above photo have a realistic chance of beating this hunk?

HR 734 is attracting a lot of support nationally, though. Like Wilberforce did so long ago, Congress needs to keep pounding on this bill until it becomes law, too.
