Early on in his administration President Obama was asked if he subscribed to the idea of "American exceptionalism." He said he did, but there were some caveats.
"I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism."
Of course, the recent news out of Greece is exceptionally bad as the nation sits on the brink of default and all of the banks have been closed for six days, Greeks are lining up in droves at ATMs and hoarding groceries and other supplies as precautions before what could be a massive financial crisis hits the nation.
The crisis has been a long time in the making as Greece's far-left economic policies and overly generous pension system have esentially bankrupt the country.
So there you have it. "Greek exceptionalism" in action. Obama called it.
