Five Places Veterans Can Snag Free Food on Veterans' Day

Katie Rodriguez | November 11, 2014

Every Veterans' Day, thousands of restaurants across the country offer deals and giveaways for veterans in honor of their service.  Of the thousands of deals out there where veterans can snag a free meal, here are U.S. chains that are thanking veterans with free food and drink.

As a reminder, it's always good to call the exact location to see how long these deals will last or whether or not documentation of service is necessary to receive these meals.

1. Free Pancakes

Veterans can get their free short stack of pancakes at any time of day.  IHOP in particular is offering free red, white, and blue pancakes from 7am-7pm to all veterans and active duty military professionals.

2. Free Coffee

Starbucks is offering all veterans a free tall coffee for their service all day on Veterans' Day.  Starbucks' CEO Howard Schultz also launched a video campaign on his website in support of veterans, so the chain is definitely looking to support its veterans.  Not all locations are participating in the deal, however, so customers should be advised that they should check their local Starbucks location to see if the deal is still on.

3. Free Meals at Applebees

Out of all the chains committed to celebrating Veterans' Day, Applebees' is offering all veterans and active duty members a free meal on Veterans' Day and has a special Veterans' Day menu to boot.  Their deal allows veterans to dine from a special menu from open to close that includes everything from burgers to salads.  The chain asks all veterans that they show proof of military service before they receive their free food.

4. Free Burgers

Shoney's is offering its free "All American Burger" to all military veterans while competing chain Red Robin is offering veterans a free burger and fries.

5. Free Donuts
