Vice President Joe Biden may have turned 72 Thursday, but good 'ol Joe is still going strong with his gaffes.  In honor of his birthday- and his tendency to say the wrong things at the wrong time- we've compiled five of the best Joe Biden gaffes that would make the president blush.

1. Health Reform Is A Big, F***ing Deal

Right after President Obama's ceremony to sign his signature health care law, Vice President Biden decided that he would let a nice, off-color comment slip by calling the event a pretty big deal in the most blue-collar way known to man.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs came to his rescue when he posted on Twitter later, "And yes, Mr. Vice President you're right..."

2. Biden Tells a Missouri State Senator to "Stand Up" During a Campaign Rally When He's Confined to a Wheelchair

Back when Joe Biden was a U.S. Senator stumping on the campaign trail for President Obama in 2008, Biden didn't exactly get to know his hosts too well.

"I'm told Chuck Graham, state senator, is here," Biden said. "Stand up Chuck, let 'em see you. Oh, God love you. What am I talking about. I'll tell you what, you're making everybody else stand up, though, pal."

3. Biden Makes A Racist Joke Against Indian Americans in Delaware

Harking back to his Senate days once again, then-Senator Joe Biden tries his hand at "building coalitions" with potential voters when he let this gem slip as he greeted one of his supporters.

"In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking," Biden said.

4. Redefines 'Top Half' to mean '76th out of 85.'

In 1987, Joe Biden actively campaigned to become President of the United States.  However, he may have boasted about himself a little too much when he boasted about graduating in the top half of his class at Syracuse Law School (he only graduated 76th out of 85) and lifted passages and speeches from a speech by the head of the British Labour Party.

The accusations came back to bite him eventually, however, because he dropped out of the presidential race a month after he made this statement.

5. Biden: Gabby Giffords Was "Shot and Mortally Wounded"

Joe Biden spoke at a gun-control press conference in 2013 with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg when he referenced former Rep. Gabby Giffords as "mortally wounded" while she was still alive.

“Think about what happened out in – when Gabby Giffords, my good friend, was shot and mortally wounded.”

Honorable Mention:

Biden: "The President Has A Big Stick"

"I promise you- the President has a big stick."

Biden tried to channel his inner Teddy Roosevelt when he campaigned for President Obama back in 2012, but he didn't exactly get the "rough-rider" image he was going for.

"Speak softly and carry a big stick," Biden said.  "I promise you- the President has a big stick."
