There are so many people that say that you should never threaten the life of a president. And while that’s absolutely true, wouldn’t logic also dictate that you shouldn’t threaten the life of anyone at all? The difference is that you hear about the threats to a president, and sometimes that person making the threat is dealt with by authorities when things go too far.
On Wednesday, a 75-year-old Utah man was shot and killed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during a raid while allegedly attempting to “serve arrest and search warrants,” according to the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail reported:
Craig Robertson, 75, was gunned down on his doorstep by agents in Provo - an hour from Salt Lake City - after they were alerted to his posts about the president.
Messages posted on what is believed to be his Facebook page on Tuesday included bloodthirsty content about how he'd brutally murder the commander in chief.
The page, which posted pro-Trump comments, also had more death threats against Biden's brother, Kamala Harris as well as Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.[…]
The FBI raided his home in the early hours of Wednesday morning, just hours before Biden was due in the city for a series of speeches and visits.
Special agents attempted to serve arrest and search warrants at Robertson's house in Provo but ended up shooting and killing him at around 6:15 am.
While it’s implied that the FBI received resistance when attempting to serve Robertson the warrants, there’s no clear indication as to exactly what happened to lead to the shooting and killing of the man. Some say Robertson was armed at the time of the shooting, but there's no information as to whether he pointing the firearm at authorities nor whether he fired the weapon.
Multiple pictures of Robertson, shown by the Daily Mail, show Robertson with an arsenal of weapons and tactical gear that was enough to make the FBI believe the 75-year-old was a credible threat to the president during his visit and beyond.
Podcaster Tim Pool did bring up an interesting point during Wednesday evening edition of “Timcast IRL.”
“Every single time someone threatened Donald Trump nothing happened,” Pool said. “All of these prominent leftists — high profile individuals — made death threats against Donald Trump. Nothing happened.”
While no one, including Pool, is condoning the threats made by Robertson, there does seem to be a clear double standard when it comes to the FBI, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Robertson reportedly classified himself as a “MAGA TRUMPER,” but that in and of itself isn’t reason enough to be issued arrest and search warrants no matter how many of the members of January 6th committee seem to believe that.
The added death threats by Robertson is what warranted a closer look by authorities, and that should be the threshold for it — no matter who the president is at the time.
