FBI Investigating San Bernardino Shooting As An 'Act of Terrorism'

Mere hours after White House spokesperson Josh Earnest refused to label Wednesday's shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., as a terrorist act, the FBI announced Friday afternoon that officials are investingating the incident as an act of terrorism.

“As of today, based on the information and the facts as we know them, we are now investigating these horrific acts as an act of terrorism,” Dave Bowdich of the FBI said at a Friday morning news conference.

Bowditch added officials have determined Syed Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, both Muslims, extensively planned the attack that left 14 people dead and 21 others injured Wednesday. Authorities had already uncovered evidence that both Farook and Malik had potentially been radicalized, with Malik having reportedly pledged her allegience to ISIS the morning of the attack.
