Dr. Anthony Fauci threw out the ceremonial first pitch at T-Mobile Park on Wednesday and received the Hutch Award, typically given to the MLB player that “best exemplifies the fighting spirit and competitive desire of Fred Hutchinson, the legendary pitcher and manager who died of cancer at the age of 45.” He became just the second non-MLB player to win the award.
However, he was greeted with thunderous boos from the Seattle crowd. Why? Because his medical pitches have been wild and off the mark for the past two years.
