Last night on The Tonight Show, talk show host and comedian Jimmy Fallon mocked Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) for suggesting that Secret Service build a moat around the White House as a viable measure to prevent further security failures.

At a hearing on the issue, Cohen said,

“Would a – moat, water, six feet around be kind of attractive and effective?”

Fallon couldn’t help but laugh at the medieval suggestion.

“Yeah, a moat. Yeah, that is a great idea… Then we will get some big cauldrons full of hot boiling oil and put it on top of the White House, and instead of Commander-in-chief, we will call the President, ‘mother of dragons’. And then we’ll just — we’re not building a moat! What’s wrong with this person?”

“We’ll roll on a 12-sided die before anyone is allowed into the White House.”

Other suggestions made by the U.S. Secret Service Acting Director, Joseph Clancy, include making the White House fence taller and lowering the surrounding sidewalk.
