It wasn’t long after the information was leaked that the SCOTUS is likely to overturn Roe v. Wade that some Democrats called for changes to the system, because things don’t seem to be turning out the way they would like.
“Expand the court, ” Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar tweeted, urging for more Supreme Court Justices to be put on the bench (at a time that Democratic President Joe Biden could nominate them) to manipulate the court’s membership for partisan ends.
Overturning Roe would put the lives of women across the country at risk. It would fly in the face of decades of precedent and the overwhelming majority of public opinion. And they will not stop here.— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) May 3, 2022

“Congress must pass legislation that codifies Roe v. Wade as the law of the
land in this country NOW. And if there aren't 60 votes in the Senate to do
it, and there are not, we must end the filibuster to pass it with 50 votes,” tweeted Sen. Bernie Sanders.

A similar sentiment was shared by Sen. Jacky Rosen of Nevada who tweeted “It’s time to codify Roe into law.”
If reports of the Supreme Court moving to overturn Roe v. Wade are true, it would be devastating for women all across our country.⁰⁰These unprecedented and dangerous attacks on reproductive rights can’t go unanswered. Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema said Tuesday they plan to uphold the filibuster. The two in the past have opposed moves to end the long-standing Senate rule.
But perhaps Republican Sen. Marco Rubio had the best reading of Bernie’s tweet.
“Translation: Let’s change the rules of the Senate to pass a federal law legalizing the killing of unborn children right up to the day of delivery.”
