WDBJ reporter Alison Parker, 24, and photographer Adam Ward, 27, were gunned down by a former coworker during a live television broadcast Wednesday morning in Moneta, Va.

On Wednesday night’s “The Kelly File,” Alison Parker’s father, Andy, and her boyfriend Chris Hurst spoke of Alison's loving nature and what a shock it was to learn of her death.

“She loved us, and we were such a tight family. She always called me just to check in,” said Parker.

The morning of the incident, Alison’s father said that he received a text from one of the WDBJ producers that there were "shots fired" and that they "hadn’t heard from Alison since."

“I just had a gut feeling that something was wrong,” said Parker.

Hurst, an anchor at the station, said that the last he heard from his girlfriend was when Alison texted him early that morning to let him know she got to work safely:

“She texted me ‘goodnight, sweet boy,’ and that was the last that I had ever heard from her,” said Hurst.

“And then I was startled awake this morning from phone calls from the station, telling me that there had been a shooting on live television and I needed to come to the station.”

Hurst said that when he found out the identity of the shooter, he was not surprised:

“Unfortunately, I was not surprised, because he was someone who was known to people at the station for volatility.”

Since he received the news, Andy Parker said he’s been alternating between shock and grief.

“I guess I’m holding up o.k. but I’ve been crying my eyes out all day long,” he said. "It’s gone back and forth, and now the anger is starting to creep in there. This shouldn’t have happened to someone like Alison."

“Everybody that she touched loved her. And she loved everybody back."
