The College Fix reports that the University of California Santa Cruz will spend at least $500,000 to combat “hate.”

The taxpayer funds will be used to address what officials called “acts of bigotry, intolerance, and intimidation,” including incidents of Islamophobia and antisemitism that have occurred following the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Hamas.

How about the state stop engaging in the hatred of people who want to hold onto their own earnings and not have their tax dollars pay for any of this?  Surprise! They don't get much of a say.

Under the plan, the university will not only harness the power of "healing circles" but aims to eliminate "hate" in two phases.

Phase 1, according to UC Santa Cruz

"Some critical and urgent climate issues funded include culturally congruent support services for students and synchronous and asynchronous training for faculty and staff on Islamophobia, antisemitism and other forms of hate. "

Ideas for "Phase 2" are still being hashed out.

"Phase 2 covers activities that will take place during spring quarter 2024 and the 2024-25 academic year. We welcome ideas that address the needs and aspirations of our community given the ongoing impact of global and domestic events. Three areas identified by UCOP for programming are:  (1) mental health and trauma support, (2) educational programming, and (3) leadership training for students, faculty and staff.

“I want this funding to bring our communities together in talking about and healing from some incredibly traumatic events,” Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Anju Reejhsinghani said in a recent interview. “And for us to think about how we teach about these challenging issues and to raise the general awareness of our responsibility as citizens of the world. I would like to see us raise the level of discourse and also provide that space for healing and community-building for anyone who’s affected by these crises.”

“We also will have healing circles or listening circles in some cases, for the groups that we thought were more impacted by the current events,” Reejhsinghani said.

We all know how much "hate" dislikes listening circles. "Hate," along with a lot of tax cash, should be eliminated pretty darn swiftly.
