Former ICE Director On Biden Border Policies: ‘Never Been More Concerned About The Safety and Security Of This Country'

The retired Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement had some harsh words for the Biden administration on Wednesday.

Thomas Homan took a strong stand on border policies and procedures that were active under President Donald Trump and criticized Biden during a House Oversight hearing on immigration law.

“The first few days in office, President Biden signed over 90 executive orders abolishing all the policies that were proven effective based on numbers,” Homan testified.  “Anybody can go to CBP.gov and look at the numbers.”

Border crossings total more than 10 million since the inauguration of President Biden. Only nine states have more population. Homan argued that the Biden administration’s action have incentivized illegal border crossings.

Among Homan’s biggest concerns is the 1.9 million “gotaways” -  the term Customs and Border Patrol uses for those who’ve intentionally entered the U.S. illegally and evaded law enforcement who haven’t made asylum or immigration claims.

“Why didn’t 1.9 million people take advantage of the free giveaway? Why not turn yourselves in, get processed, get transported to the city of your choice, get work authorization, get a hotel room, get three meals a day? Why did 1.9 million people say no? I want to get away.

Why? Because they didn't want to be vetted. They want to be fingerprinted. That should scare the hell out of everybody. I've done this for 34 years. I've never been more concerned about the safety and security of this country than I am right now, because of the 1.9 million gotaways - that scares the hell out of me.”
