The World Health Organization (WHO) has already announced that they are freezing recruitment and curtailing travel since President Donald Trump signed an executive order to withdraw from the organization.

Now WHO is faced with another country following Trump’s lead.

“This morning, the League's bill to LEAVE the WHO (World Health Organization) was presented to the Chamber, as the United States did with Donald Trump,” Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini posted on X late last week.

“Italy must no longer have to deal with a supranational power center - handsomely financed by Italian taxpayers - that goes hand in hand with multinational pharmaceutical companies.Let's use those 100 million to support the sick in Italy and finance our hospitals and doctors!”

Trump's decision to leave WHO means the U.N. agency is losing its biggest funder. For the two-year budget ending in 2025, the U.S. was expected to donate $958 million.

If Italy departs as well, WHO may be wondering what to trim next.
