According to CBS Chicago, a store security officer with a concealed carry license shot a thief who pulled a gun at a Walgreens in Calumet Cuty this week.
Police claim the 42-year-old man, along with a 48-year-old woman, had shoplifted from the Walgreens separately a short time earlier.
When store employees approached the man, he pulled a handgun. The store employee, who has a concealed carry license, fired his weapon into the suspect's chest.
The man managed to get back to his vehicle and drive off, but was shortly stopped by police who rushed him to the hospital where died as a result of his wounds.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
