Earnest: Obama Will 'Continue to Aggressively Use His Executive Authority'

Josh Earnest gave some choice words to the American public in a press conference yesterday: President Obama will not back down in using his executive authority based on the outcome of the elections.

“The first is that he is bound and determined to do everything that he can using his power in the executive branch to make progress on behalf of middle-class families in this country,” Earnest said.

“And the president, regardless of the outcome of the election, will continue to act aggressively to use his executive authority to help middle-class families.”

Earnest might be taking back his words, however, based on last night's election returns when the GOP surged to Senate control.

According to ABC News, the GOP secured victory in seven blue states:

Republicans secured victory in seven states where Democrats currently hold seats -– Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia. Three incumbent Democratic senators lost their seats – Sens. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., Mark Pryor, D-Ark., and Mark Udall, D-Colo.

Josh Earnest tweeted early this morning that the White House will be hosting a news conference later in the afternoon, presumably on this very issue.

It should be interesting to see if Earnest will take back his words in his next press conference.
