Dunham Lashes out at Conservatives Again at Golden Globes

I’m a straight male, so I have absolutely no interest in awards shows or the red carpet silliness that happens prior to those awards shows.

But as the show was beginning, an actress friend of mine texted me and told me that Lena Dunham had said something stupid…..again. I had to know what it was.

As I've made abundantly clear, I hate Lena Dunham with the intensity of a thousand suns. So I was pretty excited when I found out that her latest inane statement was yet another instance of her lashing out at conservatives. Here's the clip:

Dunham announced that she had "deleted" her Twitter account, the social networking site on which she has nearly 2 million loyal followers and described Twitter in the following terms:

"It’s the dark side of the Internet. There’s a lot of people I love on Twitter, but unfortunately you can’t read those without reading deranged neocons telling you you should be buried under a pile of rocks. "

There are multiple things that make this statement idiotic.

First.  Dunham did not actually delete Twitter.  Her profile is still up and she has posted several Tweets since this morning trying to walk back her erroneous statement from last night.

Second, she used the term “Neocon.”  Liberals throw that term around a lot but It’s not entirely clear that Dunham knows what it actually means.  She seemed to be under the impression that it was just a blanket way to refer to angry conservatives who are mean to her on the social network.

In fact, a Neocon is a term that, these days, is typically used to describe conservatives who were supporters of the foreign policy and military strategies that were taken by the Bush Administration during the War on Terror.

But the conservatives who criticize Dunham are unlikely to be upset with her stance on Dick Cheney’s views on how to stabilize the Middle East.

Dunham’s anger stems from the blistering criticism that she received from Tweeters of all political persuasions after she wrote a book in which she described herself doing some bizarre, borderline perverted stuff with her infant sister.

Despite the fact that she was the one who wrote the book, she blamed the outcry on the “right wing" as if someone over at National Review had written her book for her or snuck in the parts about her twisted relationship with her baby sister.

Thank you,Lena.  I accept your congratulations!

But that's not the only thing that gotten Ms. Dunham in trouble, recently.

Last December it was revealed that Dunham also fabricated a story about being raped “by a Republican named Barry” when she was in college.

As it turns out "Barry" was about as real as "Hands Up, Don't Shoot."

Despite all of this.  All the slanderous lies.  All the humiliation, Dunham still took an opportunity to lash out at conservatives on national television. And her colleagues in Hollywood don't seem to care at all.  Nothing but glowing praise for her artistry and her activism.

Ms. Dunham is quite possibly the Woody Allen of her generation. And not in a good way.
