President Donald Trump says he is considering using an executive order to end the measure that guarantees citizenship to babies born to illegal aliens within the U.S. borders.
“We're looking at that very seriously. It’s frankly ridiculous,” Trump told reporters outside the White House on Wednesday.
“Birthright citizenship – where you have a baby in our land. You walk over the border, have a baby. Congratulations, the baby is now a U.S. citizen. We're looking at birthright citizenship very, very seriously.”
The attempt to address birthright citizenship, or particularly "anchor babies," is an issue President Trump has brought up several times over the past few years.
