Country legend Dolly Parton in a Friday interview with CNN to promote her new album "Pure and Simple" shared her thoughts on the 2016 presidential election.

She called this year’s race for the White House the “greatest show on television right now.”

“You can’t not watch it,” said Parton. “It’s crazy.”

She added that, between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, she’s “just not sure” who to vote for.

“I think they’re both nuts,” said Parton.

She noted that she believes Clinton and Trump should be focusing on the issues facing Americans today rather than on attacking one another.

"Let's talk about what we really need -- taking care of us,” Parton argued. “I think people just want to have a feeling of security. It's just like political terrorism right now. They got us all scared to death about everything.”

The 70-year-old singer starts a 60-date tour in North America next month.
