DNI John Ratcliffe: 'No Intelligence' To Support Claims that the Hunter Biden Story Is 'Russian Disinformation'

The Director of National Intelligence said there's "no intelligence" to support a leftwing conspiracy theory that the New York Post’s Hunter Biden bombshell is part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

The theory cropped up after the New York Post published an article including alleged emails between Hunter Biden and an advisor to the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company that paid Hunter $50,000 a month to serve as a board member, appearing to show that Hunter had introduced the advisor to his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden. Joe had previously claimed that he “never even talked” with his son about Hunter’s overseas business dealings.

If true, the emails lends credence to questions over whether Joe Biden may have used his power as vice president to help further his son’s business ventures after he helped get a top Ukrainian prosecutor fired - a prosecutor who was about to launch an investigation into Burisma.

Many on the left, including House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, immediately moved to dismiss the article, which was based on emails allegedly taken from Hunter Biden’s laptop after it was dropped off at a computer repair store, as part of a “disinformation campaign” by Russia. The story was actively censored by Facebook and Twitter, who suppressed the story and even punished those who shared the link to their timelines.

But Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Monday that the intelligence community has no reason to think the story is part of a Russian ploy to spread fake news ahead of the 2020 election.

“It’s funny that some of the people who complain the most about intelligence being politicized are the ones politicizing the intelligence,” Ratcliffe said. “Unfortunately, it is Adam Schiff who said the intelligence community believes the Hunter Biden laptop and emails on it are part of a Russian disinformation campaign.”

He added: “Let me be clear: the intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there is no intelligence that supports that. And we have shared no intelligence with Adam Schiff, or any member of Congress.”
