Socialist ideas are growing on college campuses at a rapid pace.

The Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) organization claims to have gone from just 15 campus chapters in 2016 to 250 today, the Leadership Institute’s Campus Reform reported Tuesday.

The YDSA claimed to have reflected this growth on their website’s recognized chapter list.

“Currently, we've received over 250 campuses register for the fall drive! This explosion in interest shows that this semester will be the biggest ever for YDSA. We will be able to build a mass movement for democratic socialism and justice at campuses across the country,” they state.

Although they claim to have 250 chapters, the list only includes 218, with 27 being high school chapters.

Campus Reform reported that YDSA had 15 chapters in 2016, 50 in 2017, and 250 in 2018.

This disturbing trend is likely a reaction to the recent headline-grabbing campaigns of open socialists Senator Bernie Sanders and New York Democratic socialist candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, along with the Democratic Party’s overall shift to the far left.

Progressives appear to be winning over young people with their emphasis on economic justice, which should be worrisome to liberty-loving conservatives. Although, whether these young people will stick to their socialist views once they get their first real paycheck, we’ll have to wait and see.
