The Walt Disney Company made an unfortunate and embarrassing mistake on the 70th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Nagasaki in World War II.

Walt Disney Japan sent a tweet from its corporate Twitter account which said "congratulations on a not special day." Meant as a play on the Alice in Wonderland quote, "A very merry unbirthday to you!" the Japanese translation means "not special."

The company offered "deep apologies" for the mistaken tweet.

74,000 people were killed in the bombing of Nagasaki. The war ended six days later on August 15th, 1945. Japan holds ceremonies every year to remember those lost in the bombing.
