As President Joe Biden and his band of incompetent men assure you that everything is going according to plan in Afghanistan and that American citizens and allies have access to safe exit from the Taliban occupied territory, a recent report indicates that Afghan high school students from California -- whose families are deemed American allies by the Department of Defense -- are stranded in the war torn country.

According to The L.A. Times “at least 24 students from the Cajon Valley Union School District in El Cajon and 16 parents are stranded in Afghanistan after taking a summer trip abroad.” El Cajon is a city in San Diego County.

According to Cajon Valley School Board Member Jo Alegria, “The students were in Afghanistan on summer vacation with their families.” But as the summer wound down, several of the families asked the school district to hold their children’s places in the classroom as they wouldn’t be back in the States by the time the school year started.

According to the paper, the students and their families had plane tickets to get back but couldn’t get to the airport safely due to the Taliban controlling the area. The Cajon Valley School Board President stated, “The biggest concern is that the Taliban closed the airport,” and added, “We are so worried about our students that are stuck there. We’ll do the best we can to get them out.”

The students, who go to a variety of San Diego County schools, and their families have been in the U.S. on special VISAs for military service. According to Cajon Valley Superintendent David Miyashiro, the Department of Defense considers them allies and is prioritizing getting them out. (Though, the U.S. government knew there were obviously going to be thousands of Americans and Afghans still stuck there after the military pullout, but let’s think happy thoughts, guys.)

At any rate, the school district is doing its best to get these kids back. Miyashiro told school board members recently that he has met with U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) to discuss getting them out of Afghanistan.

The school district has given the congressman and U.S. government detailed information about the kids who are stuck, some with their families. Miyashiro was assured that “government officials are working to locate the children and their families” and claimed that he was “encouraged” by their support.

An email from Rep. Issa’s office alerted the local community that “Congressman Issa and his staff are working diligently to determine the facts on the ground, any bureaucratic barriers that can be removed, and the best ways to help those stranded leave Afghanistan and return home safely.”

Pray that the U.S. government can get these kids out of Afghanistan ASAP, along with the American citizens still stuck there.
